Faverolles are bred and exhibited throughout Europe. Most countries have developed their own types, therefore the standards vary slightly. Whatever the national difference the essence of the Faverolles - a large white meat table bird and a prolific layer remain the same. Bantams did not make an appearance in France until the end of the 20th Century.

Faverolles in Germany are known as Lachshuhner. Their shape is much more rectangular, and the colours more solid.

The French have two distinct varieties of Salmon.

Outside of Europe the biggest number of breeders are in America where there is an active breed club. The large there vary in size, but generally are not quite so big as their European counterparts. Bantams are of a high quality and more colours are seen than here in the UK. Email: Dick Boulanger on
